Using Tablets to Access Information From a Website

Every day more and more people are using multiple devices to access the Internet and webpages. Since wi-fi is available in so many places people can use smartphones, computers, and now tablets are becoming a fad of the future. In a recent survey, it was noted that 40% of online searches were recorded coming from either a mobile device or tablet.

It’s important to remember statistics like this when starting up your own website.  Younger generations are always on the go and they make up a majority of mobile device and Internet users. Mobile devices are easy & convenient and anyone who is looking into creating a new website needs to remember this factor when starting.

Some ways to accomplish this goal is to do the following:

1.     When you first decide you want a website, work with the designer to make sure it is compatible on all computers, smartphones and tablets. The site will look different on each device because of the screen size but all the content should be the same. Allowing access from multiple devices allows for more users to view your site.

2.     To enhance the number of visitors on a smartphone or tablet make the keywords shorter. This not only helps with the SEO for your website, but is easier for the user. Targeting shorter keywords for these devices is a smart idea because the user is not as willing to type in as much with a smaller typing area.

3.     Make it quick and easy for the user to navigate your site on their tablet.  Avoid pictures that require a zoom in/out, or other pictures that require longer loading time.  Smartphone and Tablet users prefer a website that will load quickly and present the same information that you can find on a PC.
