Tips for successful Designer & Client Relationships:

1. It’s ok to say NO- No is not usually a word designers or clients like to use, but in many cases saying no is ok. For Designers- If you have the time, energy, and manpower at your disposal then, by all means, take on new projects and grow your business. However, if you don’t have the resources  don’t place an unneeded burden on yourself or your team to pull an excellent final product out of thin air. For Clients- It’s ok to disagree with your designer, after all it is your business/brand and image that they are creating for you.

2. Discuss Every Step- Creating a plan is essential to being successful in business. Designers- create an action plan & discuss each step as you go through the process with the client. Having them involved is important to each others success. Clients- Discuss with the designer your vision and your goals for the project. Let them know how often you want to schedule a meeting, weekly, bi-weekly, etc. This will help eliminate any awkward time between e-mails & phone calls.

3. Get Pre-Approved Feedback- Designers- Let your clients see the beginning process of your work. This will give them a good idea of your vision & if your on the same page. Windy City Web Designs always creates a mock-up for our clients in order to give them an example of what their website will look like before it is coded & the finished products is handed to them and they are unhappy with it. Client- Be honest with your designer. Let them know what you like & don’t like about the design. It is better to express your feelings early on, than once the website is designed.

4. Be Timely- Designers- Stick to your timeline. If you told the client 4 weeks, get the project done in 4 weeks. No one like to work with people who are behind schedule or do not return e-mails & phone calls. Clients- Get the information your designer needs ASAP so they can get your website designed on time. Windy City Web Designs has had many website fall behind the completion date because clients have not gotten them pictures or content by the deadline. Being timely with all specifics of the web design process is extremely important.

If your designer or client stick to these general rules your success rate will sky rocket for your company.
